Well lets preface this by saying that my rating relates to an action hero movie and nothing else. As an action hero movie of the comic book genre this movie succeeds on so many levels. It is exciting without being formulaic (a la Michael Bay) The action scenes are epic. In fact seeing this movie in anything other than imax would not do it justice and really what else do you go for than to see your heroes in as close to real life as you can. It makes that world come alive in all its glory. And it certainly is glorious in that format. Imax aside, the choice of Ultron as a foe certainly comes with special effects galore and gives many opportunities for great scenes. I must admit my infatuation with Elizabeth Olsen who after numerous small roles (and big roles in small movies) gets her well deserved shot in the big leagues and she does not disappoint. In fact the twins are the ones that made the best acting choices for their roles (though Iron Man and Captain America) have less to work with as all american heroes. Nevertheless, I thought she brought depth and credibility to her role. James Spader is also making a comeback of late with his tv hit Blacklist and now Ultron for which he was absolutely perfect btw. He adds that inkling of maliciousness in his tone while sounding absolutely clever and superior. I really loved it and bought it all the way. Putting all these heroes together must have cost a fortune, but the result and execution was certainly not wasted as Joss Whedon made a very worthy film for Marvel fans and connaisseurs alike, something to rejoice for ages to come. The Avengers and Iron Man franchise really did to Marvel what superman did to DC a while back with Christopher Reeves, it gave the fans something to love and cherish and introduced the world in a very tasteful way to some very worthy superheroes. Great job all the way.
