Many people have been saying that although the CGI on this movie are great, which they are, the storyline sucks and the movie is too predictable and filled with clichés. Personnaly, even though the story is basically a futuristic western (a primitive civilisation vs a much more advanced culture), I found that the overall meaning of the movie was fantastic: the ever lasting cruisade of mankind for natural ressources will at some point find its limits, therefore having terrible consequences on our present lifestyle. I mean, come on, you never see a movie where mankind loses (or if you do, it is so rare) And alright, the movie is long, I mean very long, but there is a difference between long and useless. Nothing is said or done without being "recycled" at some point, later on in the movie. So, your final opinion on this movie should not be based on its length, nor on its seemingly shallow story, but rather on the entire production. This movie is truly a masterpiece, and whether you see it on IMAX, or 3D, or regular, just go see it.

There is nothing wrong with reviewers giving a 7-8 for this shallow storied movie. Save the tens for a great movie not a silly story with hi tech...
What I meant is that this movie has a simple story, nothing too complicated. It is unfair to say though, while an entire planet and ecosystem is created for a movie, that the CGI are fantastic, that the casting is perfect, etc., that the entire movie is "silly" because of a seemingly shallow story. Again, the story is shallow, in the sense that it is simple. While the entire concept is very elaborated, the plot isn't. An example of a truly shallow story would be transformers 2, and even then I don't think those two movies are even comparable.
This movie is a 10. If this movie is not worth a 10 then nothing else is either.
