Click here to show this review. I have to throw in my 2 cents here because the rating are just too high for this flick. My wife and I watched it on recommendation from someone and we both hated it. First off, we are both "real" musicians and this film suggests a massive pile of hooey regarding musical ability. Second I am a guitar player and this movie is endorsed by Gibson 100%. If you know guitars, there is no way not to notice that every single guitar in the film is a an easily identifiable Gibson. It was so blatant that I found it hard to concentrate on the story. Nobody give a Gibson 400 to a little kid. And boy did it irk us to watch the kid play as skillfully as a professional in the first 10 seconds of picking up an instrument. It was badly sensationalized and the kid was just annoying. Story was mega sappy and the nonsense was repeatedly laid on thick. It suggests that you can make it as a musician on raw talent alone and it is really, honestly, completely not true. So buy a Gibson guitar and give it a shot. Maybe the Metropolitan will let you conduct a piece in the park with no training or experience after a couple of weeks' rehearsal because they feel nice.
