Touching movie with great actors, but Denzel's try at directing lacked something for this first one. For one thing, I thought the movie was a bit long and slow-going, the therapy sessions between Antwone and Davenport (D. Washington) could have been greatly reduced to the benefit of flashback images and sequences. That would have accelerated the movie a bit, and we could have focused more on Antwone's main parts of childhood. Other than that, the general movie length and slow pace pass second to a good actors' performance, and a touching story, giving you some good thought about family values.
