This is hardly 8 1/2 but a realistic look at Fellini's growing up in Northern Italy. It is a stunning film visually with many unforgettable characters like the local teachers, priests, neighbours and friends. Many in the cast were not stars at all but chosen to be in the film as their persona fit the character. The movie is funny; it is sad; it is all the components of life itself. It's a larger than life world of growing up in Italy during the thirties. Feliini won another Best Foreign Language Oscar for this miracle of a film. I think it is his greatest film. An absolutely must see.
