This mainly Mozart flick is indeed a dandy one, but hardly concerns Mozart alone but concerns Wolfgang's arch-rival Salieri played by F. Murray Abraham in an Oscar Winning Performance. Mozart was often portrayed as a silly ninny who happened to be a prodigious genius. Tom Hulce (Oscar Nominee) was brilliant at playing this young upstart. We get the famous line in the movie as to why the Emperor of Austria was none too fond of Mozart's music. As he says: " Too many notes." The action in this play is hardly to be taken as literal truth as Peter Shaeffer, who wrote the original play, took many liberties in the life of the two composers. It is nonetheless a brilliant film.
