    Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter

I must say this was a surprisingly good movie, but the thought of the 16th president of the United States slaying vampires is just a bit absurd. Still, it makes for something a little fun and different to see even if it's a fictionalized story mixed in with some facts. However, I have to wonder what Abe Lincoln himself would really think about this film if he was alive today. Somehow, I feel he would laugh out loud at the thought of being a fearless vampire hunter... nothing could be futher from the truth. It's hilarious to imagine that such a noble, well- respected, and dignified man would be capable of such horrendous deeds. Aside from that, I really liked the story, how it ties into fantasy and history. It sort of reminded me of a cross between Blade and Underworld. The mood of the picture is quite serious throughout, but not without a few hints of humor here and there. Great epic love story between Abe and Mary as well. Benjamin Walkers representation of Abraham Lincoln is amazing. For a moment he gave the impression that he truly was Lincoln delivering the Gettysburg Address. As for the vampires, I thought they were especially vicious, threatening, and full of trickery. Also, there is plenty of great riveting action. The fight scenes will astound and entertain you. The gore in this film is pretty graphic, but the level of violence seems to almost overshadow it since there's a lot of it going on. Special effects too are tremendous. Indeed there are some scary moments in this flick. At times I was on the edge of my seat, anticipating the unexpected. Besides that, I have to commend Dominic Cooper and Anthony Mackie for their great supporting roles, and for the rest of the cast who gave worthy performances. Also, I loved the period setting and costumes. There are beautiful scenery shots thoughout this picture. I almost forgot there is a book based on this movie. I can only imagine if I enjoyed seeing it on-screen, then it must be a thrilling read. May have to get the book sometime. On a final note, Timur Bekmambetov and Tim Burton did a remarkable job in directing and producing this creation, well done! All in all, a great thrill ride. Vampire fans I think will delight in this flick. Don't miss this one.
