    A Single Man

This is a love story, actually a homosexual love story. I hope the word doesn't offend anyone but it is important to know because heterosexuals are not going to see it in the same way. It is also a sad story with an "unhappy ending", not exactly what most people want to feel, especially at this time of year. I found the acting and characterization to be exteremely well done but the overall experience was depressing rather than enjoyable. I left the theatre feeling rather morose.

I am not entirely clear why in your opinion the movie merited a 3. Though you found the acting and characterization "to be extremely well done", your poor rating seems to be because the movie had a "unhappy ending". Is that right? You state that you left the movie feeling rather morose. My point is that you left the movie "feeling" and therefore the moviemaker did his job and did it well!

I see your point and I wanted to be fair but of course, I also wanted to convey my own impressions and overall assessment. Feeling the way I do, I can not recomend this movie, thus the number 3 which is the "not recomended" rating. Obviously many feel that this movie offers them something which escapes me but that difference of opinion is why we post reviews I suppose.

I find it ridiculous that you are rating an excellent film badly for having an "unhappy ending". I find it even more ridiculous that you believe that people who are heterosexual (which I am) feel loss in a different way than anyone who is gay. I was absolutely moved by this story, and as a HUMAN BEING, could empathize with this character's grief over losing their beloved companion.

Mr. Jellyphant. There is no implication in the reviews that one must be a homosexual for empathizing with the characters in this film and... so there is no need for loudly proclaiming your herterosexuality and shouting that you are a HUMAN BEING for feeling the way you do. The fact is... chacune a son goût. (You) doth protest to much, methinks.
