Visually a stunning movie. No doubt about that. Where this movie comes short for me is in inspiring the values it seems so earnest to put forth. As a viewer, I never felt really inspired by the struggle of the characters to avenge the loss of their master. That really saddens me because this movie had it all! A great inspiring story with heroism & values central to japanese culture at its forefront, incredible CGI & special effects, and a big budget. As an entertainment blockbuster this movie works well. Saddly, you remember little of the movie once it's finished and take away with you even less. So if you are looking for a good blockbuster with nice special effects and all this movie does the job. Also, while Neo & Trinity's love story was believable, this one wasn't. I don't think there was a single person in the audience that believed the chemistry between these two lovers (who barely even kiss once in the movie) Another thing is that the ending certainly isn't hollywood like so you don't leave the movie particularly happy but it is what it is. Great entertainment (I barely saw time pass during the 2 hours of the movie) but maybe it's time Keanu switches roles a bit to something other than the specially gifted hero who comes to the rescue.
