I'll give this one a not bad rating, but it certainly lacks the depth and finish of Unforgiveable or even Open Range. I've never seen the original, but this one is full of holes (storyline-wise) and has no pace. That being said, there are a few memorable scenes by Christian Bale and Russell Crowe (thankfully, because with these 2 actors on the bill, you'd better be getting some memorable scenes) But to me, the two best performances came from Ben Foster (who is really showing the depth of his acting chops in this one, when you think of his character in Six Feet Under) as well as Henry Fonda (as the quintessential old-timer!) But in my book, the numerous storyline flaws and the slow pace of this western make it one that could have been oh so much better. I don't blame the actors - I blame the director (and maybe the screenwriters as well, depending on if the director followed the screenplay or not) Then again, you may love it, and if you do, I'm happy for you.
