Really bad... Maybe the book is nice, but the movie is a real flop! Herve Joncour character is really tasteless and the acting is REALLY POOR!! I had a hard time staying awake till the end...

Images d'une grande qualité, gros plans appuyant bien l'histoire.

Nothing to it. Trouble. Boring... no story... no actions... not worth seeing it at the movies.

The history of the piece is nice, but nothing more, not a film you would remember in the future or that you would recommend to your friends. I was not disappointed by Keira Knightley or Alfred Molina's performance but I was by Michael Pitt's performance. He tends to keep all the emotions inside and he should show more with his "face". I wish I could have see more development with the mistress character or if the history would have told more about her opinion. The end was not that memorable.

This a very good movie with a subtle plot and a very good cinematography. I recommend it to everyone that enjoys mediative European-like films, that leave some parts to the imagination of the public. There are some parts in Japanese (not in Chinese) as somebody else said, which are not translated or subtitled. This is what sustains a part of the plot, the fact that somebody cannot understand a language. There are some slow and unnecessary parts, but the end is worth waiting for.

The movie actually is not that bad. It just does not get to the point right away. That is what makes it kind of boring.

The film was pathetic. It didn't seem to have much of a point, and all the character's personalities were badly developed. Keep in mind, this is me being NICE. To sum it up. DO NOT see this movie. If you're that bored- I suggest that you stare at a wall. It's more interesting.

Sure this movie was a bit slow in the progress of the plot, but it is a beautifully filmed movie with a heart wrenching twist at the end. If you like dramas romantic/dramas, this movie is most definitely worth giving a watch.

Extremely slow moving, boring, waste of time, started counting my popcorn...

This movie is tragically bad. It has no plot, unbelievably bad acting and is amateurish beyond reason. If it was a high school film project it would be a failure. There aren't words to describe how lousy this movie is.

The cinematography was good, but the whole movie was long, also when they spoke chinese they were no subtitles so did not understand some parts, the love story is not there - all in all would not rent or see it again.

Well... I enjoyed it. Too bad mediocrity gets higher ratings than this little piece of meditative cinematography. But hey... Go world!

Great cinematography! It is really a nice movie to watch. It is a little slow at times, but I found the story was well told and visually beautiful.

A complete disappointment and actually quite boring at times... Weak story line. Scenes jumped from one to another without any dialogue or action.

A little slow to begin with, this movie had a ending worth waiting for, with some great scenery and excellent acting along the way. Definitely worth seeing.

The movie was great in the beginning, but somewhere along, the story fell apart and was very disappointing, especially at the end. A movie to go see if you can watch it for free.
