I saw better if I am honest. I won't like to be in their place for sure in the movie. It's not a bad movie but they should improve a couple of things.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Just a reminder, the VSSF tatoo is there as the first expedition we see in the beginning of the film has it tatooed on thier hands (or a few of them) and when the dragon is later revealed with the tatoo, we see that the man in the beginning with the tatoo has now mutated into the dragon. The main diver that searches the cave with the USA expedition gets scratched by the dragon when crawling through the cave and is confronted by the mass of scorpions remember? When he is scratched, he is infected and starts to mutate, such examples are his heightened sense of hearing, which the movie shows to us when he is sitting by himself and can hear all the people behind him questioning his authority, sanity and health. Sadly, the most important part of this film, in my opinion, is the connection with the Knights Templar and the quest for truth, which is hinted just several times in the movie. You should all know that there are caves millions of years old throughout the world, some believe them to interconnect with the entire planet, even to underground cities that are still populated. Such theories are, until you prove otherwise, just theories. But think about it, there are rumours that there are caves with ancient technology in them, worth so much that whoever would find them would have unimaginable power, if a nation found them, they would be able to rule the world by force. Consider the interest this possibility has on the rich and successful, who are not afraid of spending money on an expidition to find out the truth behind these issues themselves. But would you explore a cave on your own? Seeing movies like this can instill a sense of fear into the unprepared mind. I think that the early Knights Templar were meant to face their fears when travelling in caves, that the dragons could be symbolic for the worst fears of the men, and that if they were not worthy, then they would either get lost or die. If they were worthy, who knows, they may have found such underground cities and lived there, or returned with a great sense of confidence and fear nothing...

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] About the VSSF tattoo: It's obvious that the filmmakers put it there to show us that the creatures used to be humans. In the beginning we see it on one of the cavedivers hand, 30 years ago, and then when we see VSSF on the creatures hand, we understand the development.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] I have the answer for the tatoo VSSF! In the beginning one of the guys with some explosive has the same one on his arm. So he is the monster with the tatoo at the end!

I just finished watching this movie with my 3 children (ages 5, 9, 12)and we were impressed. It caused the children (9 & 12) to ask some very interesting questions. Not so much on the monsters, but on cave exploring and why there was water in them, etc. We watched the DVD and learned about "The Cave" in general terms and how people explore and why they do. It wasn't so much "scary", but invites interesting questions to open minded people who aren't just looking for the thrill of a scare. As far as the initials go, when researching the internet, the only thing that I found substantial was that VSSF stands for Vertical Sub-Surface Flow. This may have been the name they had given themselves as an exploration team. Don't focus too much on that, just enjoy, enjoy, enjoy!

Overall, I thought the idea was interesting beacuse the setting was different-- it's set in a cave. I don't really like the movie though, and how it has a dangling ending that is the type of ending that prepares for a sequel movie.

About the tatoo, I think it was a mark of the one from the expedition before our guys, those from the begining, but I am not sure. I looked over the internet, but nothing interesting revealed. The movie was pretty fine for me, nice shoots of the caves.

Excellent film! Wes Skiles underwater videography is amazing like all his work. I've dove with this man and he wouldn't undertake a piece of crap film like some of you seem to think. How do we talk underwater... much like we do in space. The so-called "B" movie director Bruce Hunt has worked on trillagies such has the Matrix as 2nd and 3rd unit director. Great job for his feature film directing debut. I'm sure bigger hollywood names would have made this that much better. And if your so upset about a tatooed alien... please can you tell me why "Predator" is wearing fishnet body stockings. WHO CARES!!! Its called originality and it caught your attention! GREAT MOVIE!! DVD will be even better with extras.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Hot guys! Good story! Great special effects! This movie had absolutely everything you need to see in a movie! I love Cole Hauser, so I guess I was crushed by the ending, but it doesn't matter... I still loved this movie! A must see!

Give me oxygen! I could hardly breathe the whole movie. This movie is not for the clastrophobic! Diving through caves with DPV's and rebreathers. Climbing in caves. Becoming trapped in caves. Being attacked underwater and being chased through caves. Unpredictable plot. If this movie doesn't scare you, you'd better check your pulse.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] It really could be more ellaborated. I just watched "The Cave" and the only thing that I didn't undestand was the initials "V. S. S. F." tatooed on one of the creatures. What did it mean, anyway?

This movie deserves to be seen. Great filming underwater and in the caves. It does an excellent job of developing common fears that people have: darkness, enclosed spaces, insects, unseen things in the water, being hunted, the unknown, etc."Why things are as they are" in the caves is explained very clearly as the story develops..

I LOVED THIS MOVIE!! The whole time I was anxious, wondering what would happen next. I wont give away the plot because it is sooo excellent and you just have to see it for yourself. And a MAJOR bonus is Morris Chestnut! God he is just sooo hot and totally makes this movie 100 times better. Go see the Cave right now, completley worth your money.

This movie's preview pretty much says it all. This movie is just an average knock-off of Alien. It's Alien underground instead of in-space and it's directed by a B-movie director who unfortunately didn't have a very original script on hand. It is however entertaining enough and still worth seing on DVD only.

The special effects were quite good. The plot line was a bit too predictable- it was easy to predict who would be the next to die. And the ending was unoriginal and cliche. Other than that, it was a good movie. I suggest save your money and rent it.

A the exception of the ridiculous looking monsters, I actually thought that the script was good. The idea is quite original but I feel that if you are going to do a movie about cave monsters, you could spend a bit more on making it look like a real monster. Then again, it must be my weakness for Cole Hauser. God what a babe that one!!

I really liked the movie. I knew it was going to a short movie from the movie schedule, and maybe that's the only flaw I see in this movie. They could have elaborated on a lot of small points in the movie and made it even better, more character development and such. But I liked it. It reminded me of an undergroud "Pitch Black" movie. If you like monster movies, go see it. I especially liked the ending :)

Let's see. It was pretty good. Its one of those movies that has alot of context in it so it feels like a really really long movie... at least 2 hrs. But overall it was good. Awesome scenery, good cast, could have been more gory.

I found the story line slow, the main reason I went was because Piper Perabo is in it- well this movie didnt do nothing for her acting career, alot of the movie was pretty dark because its underwater in caves- which I expected- but I didnt expect it to be so dark you cant see whats going on-- save your money and wait til the video comes out and rent it. I go to the movies every week- and this one I could have done without seeing.
