The movie was definitely very graphic, yet somehow tastefull. Just thinking about some of the really disgusting stuff still makes my stomach turn. If it had been any other movie, I probably would have left, however, the magnificent cast and powerful performances have made me appreciate the movie for what it is. A movie. As gross and graphic as it was, It was just a movie and although many of the concepts were completely off the wall, I can appreciate the fact that the all star cast did such a great job of bringing Frank Miller's Novels to life, that some people can't get past the fiction of it. Weather you loved it or hated it, you have to love the fact that everyone's talking about it! Mickey Rourke RULES... nice to see him back!

Forget about everything else you read... "This movie is the SH*T!!!" I paid 10 bucks and some change to go see that movie, and I'd do it again. [...]

Love the dark cinematic colouring of the movie. Very violent but totally tolerable given the artistic rendering... excellent show. See it!

Oh my, To keep it simple, this is an extrodianry original peice of work that boasts great cinematography. The themes are a bit dark, but it is of little consequences. This movie is defenitely not for children.

Expect a very good adaptation of a comic book, whether you like that style or not. There was a definite Tarantino influence as well. The violence was abundant, but so was the justice. Great stories, great styles, and great heros. I would highly recommend this movie assuming you can overlook the violence and enjoy the action.

WEIRD movie. Hard to follow - but finally comes together at the end. Good thing I didn't pay for it so I don't feel too ripped off. I wouldn't even rent this on video! The ONLY saving grace are there are some fine looking women in the movie, but still not worth the $10. Stay home or go see another movie!

I thought this movie was alright. I could never see it again! I wasnt expecting it to be all black and white! That bugged me but anyways it was a not bad movie.

The only thing good about this movie was the black and white effect, otherwise it was just bad. I'm not sure what I was expecting. Why pay money to watch chain smokers and prostitutes? This movie is a platform for a useless portrayal of women and male brutality.

Excellent for people who like to see something that will take them away from the boring daily work/eat/sleep and stress routine. If you like seing rough & tough action, special effects, a taste for revenge towards the bad people,... this movie is for you. However, if you like to feel strong emotions of love and cry when the main character says "I love you my darling" with cheasy music in the background, or like to see a good verbal argument between adults after spending the day arguing with your boss/spouse/family member, or if you can't understand it when the movie has more than one story to it (in this case there are many stories in parallel), you're better off not seeing this movie and staying home to watch all those shows that talk about the same [...] most people get throughout the day.

I would assume this movie would get a range of different comments. Quickly eyeing through the reviews, it seems my expectation is true. The movie is very how should I say it...'out there'. It took a risky road, and as with any risky move, it can not appeal to everyone. If you are into good style, new ideas and comic books, then you will consider this movie a true masterpiece. However, if you like movies with good dialogue, or cookie-cutter movies, or even easy to follow movies, then this is definitely not the movie for you. The movie does a wonderful job of stylization and sticking to the comic-book feel. This of course compromises the dialogue. The dialogue feels like it came from a comic book. The short sentence structure and bland language of comics feels very much out of its bubble on a movie screen. Violence and nudity is excess in parts, but still not the American action film violence we see in some of the cookie-cutter Hollywood films now-a-day. In general this movie is defiantly worth a watch, however it is not an essential part of your home movie collection. Sin City is what I would call a one-time movie. You watch the film once and leave the theatre saying, "that was pretty cool", but then you never watch the film again.

A great movie. Very violent and the characters are done exactly as a comic books would have them. It's not a light hearted movie. The plot twists around, and pulls together at the end, leaving some interesting questions in the viewer's mind, suchas the meaning (or lack thereof) of events in the world.

Excellent movie, original story and great cinematography. This is the best movie to come out of Hollywood in a while, it is right up there with matrix. This story is very involved you might have to see it twice, and the character are well developed they all have there own unique style and guided by their own moral compass. The movie does and excellent job of using the stories setting to show how each character reacts to the problems of the city. You must see this movie in theater to enjoy the cinematography. It is well worth $8, and I am going to see it again..

Until now, I have never been impressed by films made using the green screen technique but, unlike most people in my age category, I came away quite impressed with this film. The acting was quite good and I liked the stories in the film. Definitely, a must-see film.

I can understand why a lot of people are turned off by the movie, but I think it's great. It's gritty, action-packed and they don't try to treat the better known actors (Bruce Willis) any better (ie more screen time) than the fresh faces. I loved it!

Awesome work of art and some fine acting. Mickey Rourke is standout, and absolutely no one could have fit the role better. The fact that this just doesn't get any better in terms of being the ultimateguy movie - lashings of gratuitous violence and a bevy of scantily clad beautiful women - should not detract from the overall quality of production, which is tremendous.

Simple, you either love it or you hate it. I loved it. I have read the comics and thought they were excellent. Miller and Rodiriguez are geniuses and it shows in the movie. For the people who don't like this movie, go watch some teenie flick or the same old romantic comedy flick that infests your local theater. This movie is not for everyone, its for people who know what a masterpiece is and want to see something original.

Once again it is very helpful when one knows what the movie is about and what it is based on. The movie was done professionally and in a unique way. Very well done and must see it. Some may not like all the violence in it but some parts can still be humourous since it is based on a comic book.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Every jerk film student will fall all over themselves when they see this latest comic book adaptation. They'll say it's revolutionary and completely original... that's why they're jerk film students. Don't get me wrong, Sin City is enjoyable with a cool story, some great nudity and exceptional visuals, including a great Rourke performance(It has been a while) Yet it still has Bruce Willis in it, and kind of leaves you asking, "Do all film noirs need guns? ". But I digress, get out there and spend the ten bucks. Five castrations in on movie is nothing to shake a stick at.

I can see many complaints about the violence, as well as praise for the movie being "black and white", but something that seems to be missed is that this movie is based off of a comic book series. I don't believe Sin City ever reached an extremely high level of popularity as a comic book, so it was not well known. This movie does Frank Miller's Sin City justice. I am thankful that he was involved in the making of it because I believe it may have strayed off track otherwise. For the movie to be less violent, or less stylized would mean that it was not a film adaptation of his comics. It seems that many people are not aware of this and feel the need to piss and moan about violence. Canada has an extremely excellent rating system, and this movie recieved an 18A rating. I would say that I knew what I was getting to when I went to the movies to see this for the first time, but others may not have read about the film, or checked the rating to see if it was appropriate for them. Just because you are 18+ does not mean this movie is for you. Cover your own butts and do some research before signing on to a movie, instead of complaning about how much it "sucked" after you watched a film that was totally unapproprate for yourself. Thankfully there are always many different movies showing, with a broad range of ratings, for many different people.

Very smart and well done, for those who gave it a low rating obviously doesn't know that the film is supposed to look like a cartoon/comic book. The characters are incredible and the style is something not seen before, go see it if you are sick of hollywood garbage like the pacifier or the ridiculous amount of horror movies that have creepy walking...

This movie, without a doubt, was violent, but it was also creative and very interesting. I loved the way this movie was put together (I don't even read comics) and I love the dialogue between characters and the inner monologues. It was almost poetic. If you have a weak stomach this movie is not for you, because it definitely has some "Kill Bill" elements to it.

The movie was violent. Overly so. That said, it did have it's merits. The filming was amazing and (if you could understand them) the plots were pretty good. If you do not like blood and gore DO NOT SEE THIS MOVIE. Otherwise, it obtains a kind of KILL BILL kind of stupid killing intermingled with an almost interesting plot.

GO SEE THIS MOVIE!!! If youre like me and have longed for the return of film noir go see Frank Millers SIN CITY. I loved the moody narratives with the dark over the top dialogue (I use over the top in a good way) I loved its violent flawed characters and I especially loved the visual of the film It helped bring the seedy city alive as a character its self. I only gave this movie a 9 (I would give it a 9.5 if it was an option) because the books that the stories are from are still a little bit better even thought the move is almost a panel by panel transfer..
