I was one of those that thought the first Spiderman was much to contrived and silly... However, Spiderman 2 was a true correction to the first. In my opinion, it is the best sequel to the comic book superhero movies created thus far. And quite frankly it might just be the best movie of its genre. It captures a human element in its hero comparable to M. Night's Unbreakable and rivals and exceeds the best of the Batman and XMEN films. The CGI's could have been better, but are much improved over the first film. Go, and enjoy, it's worth the price of admission.

I thought this movie stunk. I didn't like Toby's acting, and the love story(why do they always ruin a good movie with a love story? ) was too predictable. But the FX were good. But a lot of the time the bad guy looked a bit too cheesy.

Jeez, why does every movie have to have a love story? Did the folks from The Young and the Restless write the script or what? I'm surprised so many guys are giving it a good review. This movie would've been okay had they cut out all the crappy sappy scenes... although then the film would only be 20 minutes long!

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] OK. To all those who were wanting JUST action... wake up!!! This movie was about sacrifice. Peter Parker for two years has been fighting crime and saving the people of NY from various mishaps and accidents. He has been sacrificing his personal life for the sake of strangers. He has been sacrificing his love life for the safety of the ones he loves. This movie was the best movie I have seen in quite a long time. The first movie was the introduction, this movie told us about what he has been going through as he adjusts to leading a life of sacrifice. People have been complaining about all the talking. You know, not too long ago, people would complain if there was too much action (reference any arnie movie from the 80's) and now you compl;ain about all of the romanctic plot points. Ooo Doc oc shouldn't talk too much. How else are you going to find out that he loses his wife that he loves deeply, or find out that he was introduced to literature by her? How else are you going to find out that he and peter know each other quite well? People complain about the MJ parts of the story. Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I thought they gave depth to the character of peter parker. How deep do you think spiderman can be? Snappy comebacks and smart jokes are about it. Ooo too much talking with aunt may. When she found out what happened... I think that was the second most emotional point in the story, the first being when spiderman saves the train and wakes up surrounded by the people he just saved. I rarely go to movies more than once in the theater... however, I will be going to this one several times before it is out of the theater, and will be first in line to get it when it comes out on dvd. If I could give it 20/10 I would.

Well, personally I thought it was a great movie. The pacing was a little off in my opinion. It was intense action and then slow pieces. But still worthwhile. THe end left it open for a third movie so we will see what comes.

I truly though that this movie was really really good. The only thing that I didnt like about the movie were the extensive usage of CG. Now I know that there were things in the movie that just couldnt have been done by a real person but when ever there was a CG character it always seemed abundantly clear. The story had its strong points and this is one of the rare movies that I will admit is at least as good if not better then Spiderman 1. I would have to tell anyone that even slightly enjoyed the first movie to go and see it. You wont be disappointed. If you really dont want to go and see it
you may miss out when the third movie comes out.

Great movie! It actually starts off very slow, particularly for an action flick. But, what is happening during this time is loads of character development, and plot advancement. During the second half you reap the rewards as the action intensifies and you get completely lost in the characters. Great special effects, brilliant fight scenes, and a truely solid plot. A wild ride, with heartfelt momements. A must see!

The first spiderman was an excellent movie for a great young actor with so much responsibility. The second spiderman was in its right an excellent movie with different content, but it has just as good a content as the first spiderman. A must see with surprising features.

One of the best movies I've seen all year, and it held up to my expectations... if not more, it is worth the money to go see this movie, fight scenses were incredible, the story plot thickens, and the graphics were so well done, the only thing it could of used less was the whole love drama but other then that it was a good movie. I can't wait until the 3rd one comes out, a must see movie.

I'm not a professional movie critic, and I haven't seen as many movies as I would have liked to, but... THIS MOVIE WAS THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN IN MY WHOLE LIFE!!! Now some people say I'm too easily pleased... OH WELL!!! I DON'T CARE!!! Personally I think they have putin something that appeals to everyone: love story, comedy, (even if there's only a little bit it dosen't matter 'cause it was thrown in at the right time)action and, well, I thought it was a tear-jerker! Also Tobey Maguire and Kristen Dunst did a AMAZING job! Great hint at the third movie in the end also. This Spidey flick was even better than the first! Now I've never had my hands on a Spidey comic before so I don't know if it followed the comics, but, I do know that the directors did do a very good job in making a wonderful storyline. The only Minor thing that I thought was wrong with it ( I said minor don't attack me here! )was that Spidey's powers just suddenly disappered and then just as suddenly came back again! What's with that?!? They don't explain ( or at least I didn't catch) why or how this happens! That is my ONLY complaint in this WHOLE movie. I don't know who the directors of the two movies are but I hope to find out. The two directors and cast & crew members should be extremly proud of themselves, they've made a baby and it's beautiful!

Omg, spider man got saved by a little gurl. Aint dat cute. Wel, alot of ppl think that. But I think that peter parker's mind tricked him into believing that the gurl wus helping him up, but it was actually him! (wierd huh? ) I guess these are little messages that the director iz giving in the movie. But I gotta say, THE MOVIE WAS SO DAMN EMOTIONAL! Like c'mon! This is an action movie not a soap opra show! "OH I LUV U(sniff)" o plz. But da fight scenes n' stunts were okay. But I am disapointed. I expected more. These ppl rushed to fast in making the movie. They should've taken their time. But I guess they wanted to do it quikly to "satisfy" our needs. But they messed it up. O wel. I guess dats a life lessons for you guys... alwayz take your time, cuz it'll go faster. I know wut my rating will be. They'll probably give me a 5/10 cuz I said that the movie suked! They do that for anybody who thinks the movie was bad. But if I'd say the movie wus terrific... they'd probably give me a 10/10. HA! Anywayz... I'm stikin' wit da comic books... and Mr. Sam Raimi, please do not make a sPiDeRmAn 3!! I repeat, DO NOT MAKE A SPIDER MAN 3!!! Peace!

I read other comments and Im quite shocked. In my opinion this movie is very shallow, tragic and not entertaining at all, simply piece of rubbish. You should be totally uninformed in your life to overcome on so many inconsistencies during the plot. Spiderman is so impotent for a long time and minutes after he can move mountains just for her smile. Hard to compare this rubbish to other good scifi movies as Terminator or Predator or even to Spiderman 1. I dont know what happened to you people how can you evaluate this one as good film?

Terrible, Terrible, Terrible! What was the point other then $$$. Bad acting + a chessy story line. Alfred Molina as the Dr. Octopus is all that good in this film. Why Tobey McGuire was chosen as Peter Parker is still a mystery to me, and James Franco is such a bad dramtic actor. If it wasn't to see nice scenes of Mahathan or the special effect and to please my BF I would of been less painfull to stay home and watch the Simple Life2. It even worse then the 1st one.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] Very good! Sure some of the parts were sappy, it held a good balance. It was really faake when he tried to stop the bus with his feet. His boots didn't even rip! His facial expression was HISTARICAL at times. 9 is a passing grade. Good action and that's plain and simple 4 every one 2 understand. I thought of alot of parodys in my head during the movie at different parts. But that's not important. THERE'S GOING TO BE 6 "SPIDERMAN"'S!!! Excellent..

Pretty great movie. The effects were awesome, not so 'clunky' as in the first movie. All around the movie itself was better than the first-- and this one actually had some humor. I espescially loved the elevator scene. True, there were a few glitches, but what movie doesn't have them? One thing I didn't like was that Doc Ock climbing the buildings reminded me too much of King Kong for my liking. Either way, great movie, not to be missed.

I saw the first movie on DVD the same day before I went to see the sequel of Spider-man. I can tell you that the second one is at least just as magnificent or even greater than the first one. The storyline is very well written and acted out by the great actor Tobey M. It was a fantastic movie to see with its great action scenes and to find out what will happen between the complicated love of MJ and Peter Parker. This is a real must-see on the big screen! Hurry up and go soon!

As comic book movies go this is well above average. It's nice to see they didn't fall into the trap that so many other movies of the same genre do and try to add in too many villains and try for some character development. It won't win any Oscars for acting but then again it's a summer popcorn movie... what did you expect?

Wait until the discount movie theatre has this movie, do not pay the full price like I did. Remember I warned you. The psychological turmoil that Spiderman goes through is hard to take if wanted an action movie. There is ome action, not enought but there is some. Wait until Blockbuster or your favorite dvd rental store has this movie under the previewed section for a deal, all in all I was not happy when I left the movie. Final grade B.

Too much hype. I was expecting it to be great from beginning to end, but in the end there only the action sequences (which were much less than the first movie) and a couple of the non-action sequences which were good. Half the movie was painful coincidence after painful coincidence - we get the point already. Go in with a low expectation and you should be happy, go in with a high one and expect to be disappointed.

[ATTENTION: This review reveals content of the movie.] What the hell were they thinking? Do the creators of this movie realize they were making an action movie not a love story. [...] Overall I liked the movie, because some of the action scenes (all 5 of them) were pretty friggin cool. I hear they are going to make continous sequels to this, they are going to have a tough time thinking new story lines for them since this is only the second one, and spider-man's identity was revealed to everyone it was important to reveal it to, and a whole train load more of people. That sucks and went against the comics and t.v. series. They also have major plot flaws... does anyone else get irked by the fact that Aunt May -an 80 year old woman, who has been bombarded by the green goblin and carried up a large building by a large man with 4 mechanical arms- can be so un-shaken up? A swear it couldn't have been two scenes after she was attacked by doc ock that she's happy and smiling and doesn't mention anything of it... !? What is that? If I was a little old lady who was almost murdered by a monster-villain I would crap my leiderhausen all the way to the insane assylum-yet she gets shaken up when peter tells her that it was his fault for "killing" uncle ben... The people who wrote this script must have been on some harsh unknown drugs that makes you think it's okay to be attacked... anyways there are more flaws... suchas: CHEESY DIALOGUE... ! Some of the lines in this movie are just sliced mozzarella smeared onto the page to form some of the worst cliches ever! UNSEXINESS... ! They sure did not go out of their way to make the actors in this movie very appealing... some of the shots of both mj and peter parker made me want to throw up... Come on! If you are a fan of the series or want to see a love story but not very much action spidey is your slice of pie... if not wait for the next blockbuster thrown our way.

This was amazing... a little more action needed but very well played... the love story is what gets me... it really brings it together. The last few scenes were awesome hopefully the third will meet the expectations. Let me say there is no one and I mean no one that will ever top Tobey Maguire as Spiderman... he did an awesome job!!!
