A very enjoyable film, in spite of its skewed presentation of "the facts". It's hard not to admire Moore's guerilla journalism tactics and the tough questions he asks, not only of individuals, but of American society. His interview with the brother of one of the Oklahoma City bombers is absolutely chilling, and Marilyn Manson comes across as very articulate and perceptive. But it is difficult to know the accuracy of Moore's "facts", and his assessment of Canada is very superficial. But I still enjoyed the film thoroughly, esp Moore himself, with his "aw shucks" attitude hiding a powerful intellect.

This movie was a very powerful documentary, and it cut across many serious issues in our society, such as gun control, youth violence, societal pressures on kids growing up, and governmental and mass media propaganda. One of the best aspects of the film is how Michael Moore's interviews with certain celebrities, like Dick Clarke and Charelton Heston, and in my opinion Moore shows how insensitive and ignorant these people in the spotlight can be. I've heard this film is so controversial, that it is hardly being played anywhere in the United States. I think this film conveys valuable messages to people of all ages, and it is a must see. Michael Moore is a very insightful and couragous man, I'm so happy he made this film.

This movie was an extremely well done commentary on North American cultural differences. Michael Moore does a fantastic job in piecing together various interviews, news clips, captions, and animated stories in an attempt to open the public's eyes to various societal problems, one being governmental and mass media creation of collective fear. I don't want to give away to much of the storyline, but the cross cultural differences pionted out by Moore between Canada and our neighbours to the south are really interesting. The messages in the movie are very left wing (anti government, guns, big business, societal pressures on youths, ect) In the end I found the film to be very original, insightful, thought provoking, and witty. I would recommend this movie to a more mature audience.

I think most people living in middle America should be tied to their chairs and made to watch this film. It is a, if not THE most incisive and searing indictment of modern American society. The film amused, angered, and saddened me in turn. It explores a mass national psychosis with great sensitivity, even as it delivers a resounding blow to the ideals of corporate, imperialist, racist, pro-Bush America. And what on EARTH was Charlton Heston thinking when he said that he owned guns in honour of "the great dead white people who invented (sic) this country"? And if you're Canadian, oh BOY, is THIS a feel-good film!

It is no surprise that after reading the comments posted all the negative ones about the film are uneducated and have no back up to them. Canadians may have comeout of this movie looking "goofy" (as one person said) but I'd rather look a little goofy then look like a murdering society. Anyone who could not watch this film or thought it was made in poor taste I pose this question to you: What was really wrong with it? Was it one sided? If it was then stop watching the news and reading the paper because guess what... that is also a very one sided form of media. Nothing in this world today really offers two sides to anything but by making this movie and not offering any solutions, because I don't think Moore has any and neither do I, it has at least opened the world's eyes and hopefully Americas so that a solution to conflicts with guns can be achieved. Once this happens America might be able to call itself the land of the free. No one is free if they have fear that by walking to the store or going to school or driving to work they could be killed, is the new age of death sports being lead by moving to the United States of America and setting up residence?

A real eye-opener. This was a fantastic movie and certainly taught me alot about what is truly going on in this world. It also made me realize how different Canada is from the U. S.

Having done some research for lobby groups, I found that there were some gross simplifations in the facts presented by Mr Moore. However, this being a piece directed at the public at large and intended as sensitization tool, I feel that it filled it's objective elegantly and in a very powerful manner.

I thought this movie was terrible. I have lived in both Canada and the United States. I thought the analysis of the American problem was factually interesting but the comparative analysis to Canada was shallow and sloppy. It is absolutely ludicrous to suggest that there is neither poverty nor racism in Canada and that these are the reasons for the gun problem in the U. S. What a joke. Tell that to all the black men who've been shot by police in Toronto. Tell that to Native Canadians. Oops, what about all the hate crime cases I came across at law school. No problems in Canada. Gotta love the "fear of the black man" theory. Gotta love the "no crime in Toronto theory" and the "indigent? What's that? - they don't even have indigent people" theory. Not to mention that most gun violence and crime occurs within racial groups and not across racial lines. I think the movie promomted more stereotypes than it helped eliminate. I found this to be one of the most offensive movies I have seen in a long time.

Michael Moore gives us a sarcastic, comedic and slightly unfocussed view of the US gun culture and the kind of senseless violence and meaningless random death it spawns. Along the way he touches on possible root causes of the violence; racism, fear poverty, psychological abuse and neglect to explain why Americans shoot each other more than any other nationality. Some of his points are debatable but along the way he emphasizes them with exposees of the type of lies, sensationalism and hypocrisy that is rampant amongst the press, special interest groups, politicians and big business. And, amazingly, he manages to bring humour and wit to bear on this blood soaked, sickening topic. A must see regardless of your opinion on gun control (although it is hard to see an intelligent person taking sides with Charlton Heston and his NRA cronies when six year olds can get a gun to shoot each other)

A tad Biased in terms of American/Canadian mentality towards gun ownership (in favor of canadians) but all in all a must see documentary. Some particularly insightful commentary in regards to the african american male plight in the United-States and a must see 'south park' style animated short. Excellent film, glad someone had the balls to do it and cutos to the people who supported the film and got it into theatres.

Those having a problem with this film likely support the NRA, USA & B* U* S* H*! It is not a musical nor is it a film with robotic fantasy images. It is a reflection on the current sick violent society called AMERICA. This film should be made mandatory at all HIGH SCHOOLS in AMERICA.

Although the movie doesn't really state or offer any solutions to the problem it depicts it is one first huge step towards making american public think about their society and way of life, and hopefully changing it for the better. It is a shame though that this documentary isn't being publicised all that much. So go see it and spread the word!!!

This is a film that everyone should see. Watched in the hopes viewers can draw thier own conlusions rather than Moore's blatant and aggressive left wing agenda. People should not be proud Canadians nor have pity on the Americans after watching this film. (Grow up!!!) I'm quite sure that these same "proud" viewers are the ones who believe in our warped boondoggle gun registry. Moore is bit of a hypocrite when he twists much of his info in the same sensationalism/slander he is against in the film. Plus his views on American history and current events are overgeneralized and patronizing. Yet the Kmart scene, the fear mongering media, Manson, actual footage of the Columbine murders, milita gun kooks really hit home to the viewer. But the worse part of the film is Moores phoney heroism when he tries to put guilt on Charlton Heston for the little girl murder. Moore looks away from the real issue of the poor girls murder because it was done by a black kid; whom in turn was not at fault because, according to Moore, Blacks are nothing more than victims of the evil white male, like Heston, american society (reverse racism!!) As a result Im not surprised that a Canadian company produced the film since no American company wanted to even come near it. Who can blame them?

This is a better beginning of the thinking process than an end: the big corporations, the gun industry, American foreign policy, advertising all get a needed slap in the face. The most disturbing question for me is, "What do all those (same thinking) chucklers in the theater do when they walk out? " I hope each one does something substantial, meaningful for peace.

A great movie. Finely an american is starting to ask question about the american way of thinking. "The freedom to protect ourself". What makes this even more great is that it is done a by a all typical america guy, who is tryng to understand. The focus is manly done in america. But it makes you think about your own way of livign and thinking. And he is not affraid of sayng what alot of poeple thinks inside but are affraid of sayng. All teenager should see this movie.

This movie was a real eye opener. You see most of this stuff on American t.v. but this movie shows how gun violence has effected a community, a nation and what people are or aren't doing to help solve a growing problem. This was a great movie including interviews with your not so typical celebs (Matt Stone, Marylin Manson) who give very "real" opinions.

Good, but completely overrated. Moore provides an interesting (and sometimes entertaining) appraisal of 'gun crazy' U. S. Unfortunately, to bolster his premise, he participates in a few completely self-serving endeavors-- the Charlton Heston scene at the end of the movie was paricularly revolting and needless. Chuck is a confused old man... leave the poor guy alone Mike!

Well first of all this IS NOT A DOCUMENTARY MOVIE. Documentary don't take side. They provide facts and let us do the thinking. Here the movie maker Michael takes side and show us what HE wants us to see. Still the side he's taking is the righteous one so if you try to overlook the biased content. It is the funniest, saddest and mind provoking 'documentary' in years. Thumb up.
