This magnificant film had showed how one struggles for relations and had to find solutions for himself to stop the drinking habit. Jeff Bridges, was considered to me exceptionally good actor and had showed alot of encouragement in this film. To me while seeing it had a message towards ones who marry ones who are heavy drinker. He had a tremendous voice and had sang pretty well as I do enjoy films which have some music which makes the film more for ones like myself who likes to hear good films that have alot of excitement and to bring lots of attention to listen to. His last relation he thought would work out and she did not like his drinking and he did change and wanted to show some inspiration but did not realize as she did not mention meaning Jean had hid that she was already married and made him think differently once he discovered at the end where he was living. I really enjoyed his music group. So to me the title Crazy Heart sure fitted to his way of living as his thinking was totally different. He was attached to Jean and it seemed that at times it showed but she hid somethings which hurted his feeling at the end of the film but all in all it was a good touchy film and happy to find out that he had won an award for best actor as he to me deserved it.

I thought this movie was very good, well acted and realistic. The ending was a little weak but all in all a good show.

This movie reminded me in many ways of last year's The Wrestler, with Mickey Rourke. Jeff Bridges does a great job of portraying a down and out country singer, but, in the end, the movie itself is both relatively boring and uninspiring. Maggie Gyllenhaal was very good in her part, but Robert Duvall was wasted in a bit part and Colin Farrell just didn't seem to be the right person for the country singing role. The movie is worth seeing, if nothing else but for Jeff Bridges Oscar winning performance. That said, you could just as easily wait for it to come out on DVD.

Willie Nelson mutates with the ' Dude' , in a wonderfully produced musical drama. Just when u think it's just another 'happy, then sad :) , then happy - whatever type of movie... it may throw u for a loop. Love ya Jeff! Just wish they woulda had more big concert scenes, but I think that's part of its charisma, good job Coop.

Much better than I expected it to be. Jeff Bridges' performance is truly Oscar-worthy. A worn out, used up man in desperate need of a life. I enjoyed the story, although I felt there were some slight gaps. I wasn't quite sure why/how she was able to get through the haze, beyond the fact that she was a quality human being who didn't want something from him. That certainly made her special, but I wasn't sure why he would be capable of caring that much. I also wasn't clear why she would fall for someone so obviously wounded and damaged, unless it was her own journey down a road she swore she wouldn't go down again, but that didn't see clear to me either. It's not that I didn't believe these things, but that I had to fill in the gaps with my own speculation (knowing what I do about addiction and co-dependency), rather than the story showing me. In any case, I really liked how the story evolved. Very sad but everyone found their way to be true to their integrity, despite the sacrifices this took. Then there's Robert Duvall who is such a classic in whatever he does. He seems to enjoy these small roles just to keep his hand in and show us he can do pretty much anything. And he does.

With the Oscars coming up and all the good vibe and awards for Jeff Bridges; I decided to take in this little independant movie that reminded me of last year's The Wrestler with Mickey Rourke but with a guitar. Jeff Bridges does give a compelling performance and is at his best when Maggie Gyllenhaal is on screen with him. This movie was better than I expected it to be and he does deserve the Oscar even though Colin Firth was amazing in a Single Man. I found Colin Farell a little flat (still a fan!) and Robert Duvall was his usual self. Overall pretty good movie with great performances By Bridges and Gyllenhaal.

Wait to see it on dvd as for Jeff Bridges I don't think he deserves to win an oscar for this, Colin Firth and even Jeremy Renner in the hurt locker did better.

The premise behind "Crazy Heart" had a ton of potential: wonderful storyline, fantastic music, and excellent casting. But yet, somehow, it never felt like the film got off of the ground. Jeff Bridges truly was brilliant and carried the film on his ever-capable shoulders, giving a more than Oscar worthy performance.

Basically, two people who essentially have 'problems' meet with almost unrealistic results... one a drunk the other seemingly an air head for having the hots for some smelly old reprobate. Music was good. Bridges is a great actor. This could have been better if it was a bit more realistic.

Realistic people, good story about aging and country music's "Almost Made Its". Not for imature tastes, that's why I am surprised at the youngsters liking it more.

Riveting stuff... really captures what life is like "when you are so low the bottom looks like up". An oscar performance by Jeff Bridges and the music is great. Plus a cameo performance by the great Robert Duvall.

I was very impressed by Jeff Bridges and Colin Farrell's singing; great coaching. Jeff Bridges makes us believe he is the alcoholic singer who is destroying his life. The love affair is a bit strange, her being so much younger, but, Eh! It could happen.

Gawd I loved this movie! I knew it would be cliqued when I walked in there but what movie isn't? Jeff Bridges was so believable as Bad Blake, disgusting and lovable at the same time. There was a lot of symbolism in the movie, if you watch for it.I normally like Colin Farrell but I thought he didn't really suit a big country music star here. Maggie G was a good 'Jean' but it was a bit if a stretch believing that a pretty young career-driven woman would fall instantly in love with Bad Blake, busting buttons on his dirty polyester shirt and reaking of alcohol. And he was smelly.... you could smell it right through the screen. It was like watching a documentary on alcohol abuse. Anyway, great movie. I'm listening to the soundtrack as I type this :-)

I found the storyline a little forced at points. I wished they'd developed the 'falling in love' part between Maggie G. and Jeff B. I'm sure it would've made it a bit more believable. Otherwise, a nice little movie. Great music, greater performances, and surprising voice talent from Jeff Bridges and Colin Ferrell. Will probably buy the soundtrack.

Jeff Bridges as always delivers a strong performance. He is so easy and smooth in his acting, you forget that it is acting. The rest of the cast stands in his shadow which I believe was the intention of the story to begin with. No sex or violence but a story from a heart, a crazy heart. BRAVO; there is still hope for Hollywood.

I thought this was a pretty good character study. No chemistry at all between Gyllenhaal and Bridges, which made her attraction to icky-him just that much more ridiculous. I also thought that Collin Farrell was really miscast. So really, Bridges carried what would otherwise have been a pretty poor movie. I still think the Oscar should go to Colin Firth for Single Man, a much better man-o-drama than Crazy Heart.

First of all I should say that I hate movies about drunks and losers. I went to this movie because of reviews about Jeff Bridges performance. That was the strength of the movie. I wanted to like this movie and tried really hard but after a while it got just plain boring. And what is this thing about a young woman with a child falling for an old drunk who smokes like a chimney? Ain't gonna happen except in a movie. Bridges gives an authentic performance but too bad it is spoiled by this ridiculous idea that a young woman is going to fall in love with an old drunk.

This movie has a lot of buzz. After having seen it, I find the buzz should definitely be mostly about the music. The movie itself, the story, is not all that great. There's really not that much to it really. This story has been told time and time again, often in much better fashion than in this movie. The music, crafted by the legendary T-Bone Burnett, truly is great. It helps set the scene, the emotion. Jeff Bridges performance is worthy of recognition... I'm just not sure it's an Oscar-winning performance. It's not an emotional portrayal. He nails the drunkard type, but then again several actors have done this in the past few years in much better fashion than Bridges and it did not garner them an Oscar nomination. I found Morgan Freeman much more Oscar worthy in Invictus. We shall soon find out! Maggie Gyllenhaal also delivers a good performance, but definitely not Oscar-winning. 6/10, not a bad movie per say, but could have been much better in my opinion.

Jeff Bridges plays a slovenly, macho, self-centered, sweet-talking AND sweet middle-aged singer/songwriter who has seen all aspects of life on the road. He does it to perfection. Fine performances from the supporting actors ( (Robert Duvall can play any role!) but I don't buy the permanently gooey Maggie Gyllenhall. Like so many movies with potential to be a classic, the ending didn't tie a ribbon on it.

Sure, the plot is predicable, but the acting -- especially by Jeff Bridges -- makes up for it, and on the merits of Bridge's talent alone, the film is worth seeing. About midway through, I found my thoughts wandering a bit, as the film dragged for about 20 minutes. After regaining its footing, it turned out to be a gem and had a rather surprising--non Hollywood style ending. I was also impressed at how authentic the concert scenes came across. Sitting in the theater, I almost felt like I was at a big country music concert. I'd have to say Crazy Heart is the best of the past 12 or so films I've seen. Give it a try.

I really wanted to love this movie... but, I didn't. The interaction between the main characters is just uncomfortable. I, and many of the audience cringed and eeewwwed when the leads shared their first kiss. He's just too scummy for her squeaky clean mommy-ness. The actors are doing all that they can but the script is a bit boring and that makes the movie disappointing.

Jeff Bridges is always a pleasure to watch, as a Baker brother or the Dude, and not just because he is one of Hollywood's most attractive men! As Bad, he has truly found the character that lets him show all the depth of his talent. He is a walking disaster but one we want to take care of. A sweet man caught in a deadly lifestyle that his profession encourages. Maggie Gyllenhall is a perfect foil. We understand, against all sense, why she would jump into bed with him and appreciate even more why she has to jump out... and her little boy is simply the sweetest. Robert Duvall again makes his presence felt in a small role and Colin Farrell is a nice surprise. The music makes you realize why country music is so popular. The scenery is breathtaking, the acting equally so. Superior writing. This film is encouraging, no Hollywood ending but an optimism that even someone like Bad can find salvation,

Fairly by-the-book Guy hits rock bottom, meets a chick with a kid story. Jeff Bridges is so convincing as Bad Blake, the rock bottom dude in question, you can practically smell the whiskey and tobacco on him. The first half hour is terrific, then it just gets predictable and boring.

Jeff Bridges will always be a 'Fabulous Baker Boy', he really is fantastic in this movie. Perfect persona for the part, he let it all 'hang' out, and was really convincing as 'Bad', he should get Oscar gold for this. Music was great...

What a touching movie! I left the theater with a happy feeling, simply fantastic. Jeff Bridges really surprised me with his great singer. I couldn't figure out why a young girl like Maggie Gyllenhaal would go for a 57yr old alcoholic---I get it now. Beautiful scenery not to mention. Go see it now! :)

A wonderful film -- Jeff Bridges retains such humanity in what could have been a drunken, predictable mess of a role. Go see it if even you don't love country music, the characters drive the bus on this one. Maggie Gyllenhaal and the relationship between her character and Bridges' Bad Blake is beautifully nuanced. Is the drunken country singer/musician plot old? Hell, yes. But this is a fresh take with a very strong cast -- Robert Duval and Colin Farell are also stand outs. This is worth seeing.

Great American movie, great American cast, but Jeff Bridges really carries this movie and carries it well. As usual, for American movies, they tacked on two unnecessary minutes at the end just so you won't walk out oh the theatre thinking too much. Other than that, I loved it.

Bridges owns this film. Hand him the Oscar right now! He, more than the story or the direction, is the reason to set 2 hours aside to watch this. A simple story with near perfect cliches but feels sprung from real life.

Good, simple, heartfelt movie. They don't often make them like this anymore (they used to in the 90s) Great acting and cast. Jeff Bridges was great but Robert Duval, in a small role, was perfect. This is definitely not a Hollywood blockbuster but a bitter sweet tale of an aging, drunken musician who got screwed by the biz and the booze. My g/f didn't like it so much.

Jeff Bridges is a gifted actor as Robert Duvall and Maggie gillenhall too. The three of them have a real chemistry in the film. Also , I have to mention Tommy cooper , who is a very good young director; we are going to see more from him. Mr. Bridges owns an Oscar, definitely as Mickey Rourke deserved last year.

First off, I loved the music. In this film, it is a treat like the uncut or up close studio versions. The music suits the movie well and of course, the story is a bit cliched but still very enjoyable. I liked Jeff Bridges in this role. He really looks and acts like a drunken sob. You want to kick his ass for his behaviour. It is also inspirational. I wish Jeff would make more films... such a good actor.

I think that Jeff Bridges will have a lock on the Best Actor academy award, his performance is brilliant and somehow he completely avoids you ever thinking of him as Big Lebowski even though he's over dischevelled in this film. Robert Duvall is fantastic as well, as is the music in the movie. I hope Jeff Bridges himself sings one of them at the Academy Awards (maybe even with Colin Farrell? ) I mean I hate country music and yet I loved every song in this movie, it's not a musical though so don't worry. It's a great love story and slice of life piece. I'd say this movie is to Jeff Bridges as The Wrestler is to Mickey Rourke. The fact that Bridges can make Bad Blake a likeable character is pretty amazing. Definitely recommended.
