Certain scenes were hard to watch but it does gave you a perception how far revenge can take someone...

Catering to the UQAM crowd - horrifying but not much beyond a gross-out flick. The murderer was well cast - very believable rapist.

Weak and flawed. It seemed to largely cater to the "dangerous montreal crowd" who can handle the violence at the expense of a plot that can move from scene to scene with sublety or pace. And there is the main problem - the film doesn't move. I also felt like I was watching a woody allen look-alike get tortured. How hard is it to find someone to act like they are getting tortured without having to bring in an elf? I guess he does look a little evil. The acting apart from the other leads was perfectly fine. It was a shame because the book is excellent.

Having read the book before seeing the movie, I'm quite impressed by the movie. I thought that they would censor lots of things from the book... But they didn't. I liked it. It's intense if you haven't read the book, and may be a little senseless too, but overall I found it nice.

The violence/revenge is too vicious, unnecessary in its length, as if we need all of it to concur with the atrocity of the murderer's act. I agree on the subject, not the content presented.

The way the subject is treated is so raw and relevant... I appreciated it tremendously.

OK, I have been anxiously awaiting this movie, the 3rd book by Senecal to be brought to the big screen (after Sur le seuil and 5150 rue des Ormes) The first one was excellent, and the second one was very good, solid. This one was a disappointment. The acting was very good, so that was not the problem. I have to blame the directing and editing. Podz (his real name is Daniel Grou) made some weird decisions in my opinion. He chose to have absolutely no musical score, leaving the movie a very quiet affair. His camera work was also quite questionnable, with several sequences leaving us wondering what in the heck he wanted to show us or lead us to. The cuts from scene to scene seemed very clumsy and sudden, often catching us by surprise... and some of the black screens in between scenes were just too long and very awkward. Don't get me wrong, I have seen and adore many very low budget modestly shot movies, but this one just doesn't work. Too bad. 5/10, so, so, no better.

Went to the premiere of this movie and heard a lot of warnings beforehand that this was going to be intense. A lot of people have described it as a clash between Saw and The Lovely Bones. It has that emotional side such as to not make it a senseless slasher movie but it remains horribly graphic. As you see the main character seek revenge through torturing his daughter's rapist and murderer, questions of what is right or wrong will definitely appear. About half way through I found it difficult to watch and un-entertaining as I couldn't relate with any characters and found myself stuck in the middle. I didn't agree with what the father was doing, nor the murderer. It didn't take long for me to make up my mind about who is genuinely crazy. If you want to see a movie about an out of control father, this is it. It is surely not a story with themes of forgiveness or forgetting and hopefully will not become an example for society.
