Jack is a 3-year-old chimp who has lived in a university research environment for most of his life. A series of events land Jack in Nelson, B.C. where he befriends a young deaf girl named Tara. Tara's older brother Steven is an avid hockey player who dreams of playing in the NHL. Things change when Jack skates onto the ice and into the record books as the first chimpanzee hockey player!
