I saw this for the second time --- gave it a second chance and still long long. The book is better.

This movie is the longest movie ever... and half way through, I stopped. This movie is sooo boring, the plot is boring, it is quite disgusting and distasteful, and just ughhh. The acting is good, but, Oprah, stick to your talk show and never try writing a movie again!! If you do, try something a lot happier and less grusome. Don't watch it, don't rent it, if it's on TV... watch reality shows instead. Don't watch it unless you HAVE TO, like for school or something. It's the worst movie I ever sawD. Lol. 4real!!!

Really, Opera's hypeness about this movie was more than disappointing. MOST of the time books made into movies don't capture the essence of the author. I think this one was one of the WORST. If you didn't read the book, it would seem wierd, misunderstanding, and disturbing to say the least. If you did read the book, the only reason to see the movie, is to do something with your spare time.

This was an incredibly moving film, deserving of the highest accolades. The only detraction from the value of it would be that it is somewhat confusing unless you have read the book first. Otherwise, beautiful filmmaking!

One of the best movies I have ever seen! Very deep, very emotional. Is a long movie and took me some time to get into it but I was glad I stuck it out! Not a movie for children (although I doubt they would stick around to watch it anyway)

It was alright. I was sort of disturbed, but enjoyed most of it. Very moving. A little to super natural to be believable.

This is one book that should have never been made into a movie. Although the movie tries it doesn't even come close to the beauty of the book. The movie makes it seem cheap and strange and misplaced. The "A" for effort doesn't excuse the outcome. Skip the movie and read the book.

Stunning. The cast was so powerful. I have not read the book but plan to. I understood it and appreciated the story.

Very disturbing movie, voodoo magic and all that! Gave my mother-in-law nightmares for three days after she watched it. Great cast though!

A film very near to it's novel. Great actors but, Beloveds character seemed to be different as in the book. I was kind of confused about her behaviour. (strange grinnin'ect.)

A deep,heart-felt,emotion-moving film. Those who are ignorant concerning the subject of slavery will NOT enjoy it.I suggest you read the book.Certain films are about more than strictly entertainment and fun,but rather to further educate the mind and soul.

This movie is a work of art; ethereal and bizarre, passionate and disturbing. The story is translated beautifully from the book and follows the story line exactly. Nothing was compromised for the sake of Hollywood. Passionate and powerful performances given by all actors. For those who didn't understand it, try reading the book for better clarification.

It was a good movie but you must understand the history of slavery with the blacks...A little too long but very profound...
