(L'un des meilleurs films de l'année 2001) Un film extra-ordinaire ou j'entendais des mauvaise critique mais dans le fond, c'est juste le monde qui n'est pas capable d'ouvrir l'oeil. O. K. Seul point de faiblesse c'est que le film est souvent tourné dans la noirceur et que les scènes sont parfois juste silencieuses mais c'est ce qui rend les scènes bonnes! On a un brio d'acteurs qui s'en tire à merveille comme celui de Spaceck en une mère desesperée par la mort de son fils, Wilkinson par un père qui ne montre aucune reaction et Tomei en une mère pauvre de deux enfants. Bravo!

Effectivement, si vous vous attendez à de la grosse action, vous allez être déçus! Comme plusieurs d'entre vous d'ailleurs... mais si vous souhaitez un film de réflexion ou on en vient à se demander quelle serait notre propre réaction, c'est à voir!!! Il y a des lenteurs et j'avoue que ce n'est pas un film comme les autres... mais la réalisation est spéciale... Si vous êtes lassés des films américains où on ne voit jamais les personnages principaux faire de petits gestes quotidiens et "normaux" comme se laver le visage et bien écoutez "sans issue"... ça nous replonge dans notre monde et ça nous permet de mieux s'identifier aux personnages!!! Pour une fois qu'ils nous ressemblent!!!!!

J'ai trouvé le film très ennuyant. Dès la moitié du film j'ai commencé à le faire aller en accéléré et je l'ai quasiment trouvé meilleur ainsi. J'ai trouvé que la durée du film était beaucoup trop longue pour l'histoire en tant que telle. On aurait pu soustraire énormément de secondes ainsi que de minutes. Malgré tout, le jeu des acteurs est très bien organisé et joué.

Très bon film. Effectivement le film est peulent. Le film joue presque en temps reel, mais cette lenteur represente bien l'etat d'esprit des parents de la victime dechires entre la colere et le desespoir. Ces pauvres gens sont perdus. Famille modèle d'un petit village dont les valeurs et les normes devront être repensés suite à la mort tragique de leur fils. Que ferions-nous à leur place?

Une petit chef d'oeuvre. Pour une des rares fois, je suis allé voir la version originale anglaise (la version française ne joue plus à Montréal) , et j'ai adoré. C'est un film quand même lourd avec un sujet difficile, mais ça s'écoute très très bien. Les acteurs sont formidables, l'histoire est très bonne et très touchante. Un film à ne pas manquer si vous ne l'avez pas encore vu. Il va certainement ressortir suite à la remise des Oscars!!

Déçu. Pourtant j'ai apprécié le jeu de la plupart des interprètes mais ils NE SONT PAS parvenus à me convaincre qu'ils étaient ces personnages. Peut- être parce que j'ai vu récemment "THE DEEP END" qui se situe aussi dans un cadre bucolique et que c'est ce cadre qui permet le dénouement du film: Le père aurait-il pu se livrer a cette vengeance dans une métropole? Et comment disposer du cadavre... Au Parc Lafontaine? Au Jardin Botanique? En y allant par autobus ou métro? Et le meurtrier du fils, avec son faciès de perroquet et sa teinture Villeneuve, on l'imaginait mieux "cruisant" les mononc gays que ravageant l'appart de son ex.

OUACH!!! Ce film est vraiment de petit budget et même ces acteurs connus n'ont pas pu faire un succès de ce film!!! Les couleurs sont sombres et les nombreuses scènes de peches sont tellement plates!! Le film est beaucoup trop long!!! Il y a seulement la première demi-heure du film qui est passable... Sissy Spacek est nulle dans ce film... elle est rendu bas dans sa carière je pense!!! Seul Marisa Tomei est passable... Peu à peu pendant le film, la salle se vidait!!! Ne le louez même pas en vidéo!!!

Film que l'on visionne sans plaisir. Climat lourd et sans superflus. Le réalisateur n'a pas fait de mélodrame, il a réalisé un vrai drame dans la vie pertubée de ce couple. Tom Wilkeson et Sisy Spacek sont superpes de crédibilité. C'est dur de donner une cote à un film comme ça. C'est pas un plaisir à visionner, mais il nous tient du début à la fin. Le réalisateur a réussi même à ne pas mettre de musique pour amplifier ce climat lour et dramatique.

Le "bedroom" est l'un de ces compartiments où les homards s'entre-mutilent, lorsque le pêcheur tarde à retirer la cage et que les crustacés y deviennent trop nombreux (plus que trois si j'ai bien compris) Ce phénomène présenté au début du film devient le prétexte à une trame pseudo-philosophique (où l'on semble comparer la cage à homards aux réactions sociétales) et à une mise en scène qui se prend très très au sérieux. Si l'on ne considère que la forme, c'est bien. Et les prestations de Sissy Spacek et Tom Wilkinson sont on ne peut plus magnifiques. En outre, il y a deux ou trois prises de vue qui donnent envie de faire une petite escapade en Nouvelle Angleterre. Si l'on regarde le fond, cependant, eh bien, moi, j'y vois un navet. Un navet façon derniers films de Charles Bronson, une connerie sans substance et sans profondeur qui fait l'apologie de la vengeance. Ce film dit à monsieur et madame "Tout-le-Monde": "Regardez, ça pourrait vous arriver à vous aussi et, auquel cas, que feriez-vous? ". Et ce qui est abominable, c'est qu'ils (Festinger et Field) proposent une réponse! Conclusion: je crois que ce film rejoindra maints lecteurs du "Journal de Mourial", tous ceux qui croient que l'"a priori" est une preuve, que la rigueur du droit est une blague et que "les-sales s'en-sortent-toujours". Ils puiseront dans ce film des pseudo-arguments qui ne reposent sur rien, des arguments créés de toutes pièces, ex nihilo (puisque ce film présente le salopard et tous les autres comme il le veut bien) Personnellement, je préfère la rigueur du droit à à la justice de la plèbe qui se croit avisée de lyncher l'autre sous simple présomption de culpabilité. Je donne 5 à ce film, et ces cinq points s'expliquent exclusivement par la présence de Spacek et Wilkinson.

Pour une fois que nous voyons un film américain qui impose le respect du silence et qui ne met pas de gros violons en fond sonore pour nous attendrir; pour une fois qu'un film américain en dit plus sur les non-dits par le jeu impeccable de tous ses acteurs; pour une fois que la fiction se réflète dans la réalité du quotidien, je ne peux que me réjouir d'être allé voir ce film. Il est vrai que la longueur des plans peut incommoder certains qui, comme dans bien des cas, sont pressés de voir filer la vie. Mais, je crois qu'on apprécie davantage les bons moments de l'existence quand on a la chance de les voir évoluer lentement. Une seule déception - qui n'a pas rapport au film lui-même - c'est que toute l'attention requise pour pouvoir goûter au maximum de chaque séquence a été perturbée pas le son tonitruant qui provenait de la salle de projection adjacente au cinéma AMC. Moi qui croyais que les salles étaient insonorisées!!! Enfin, c'est un excellent film que je n'hésiterais pas à louer pour pouvoir l'écouter en toute tranquillité dans mon salon. Tom Wilkinson est remarquable dans le rôle du médecin et le jeu de Sissy Spacek est formidable. Marisa Tomei, pour moi, c'est une révélation!

Film très sobre qui effleure des sujets comme la violence verbale et la violence physique, et qui s'attarde au processus de deuil. Film d'atmosphère. Les longs silences, le passage d'une scène à une autre sans dialogue parfois, nous permettent de sentir l'inconfort auquel sont confrontes les personnages. Très beau jeu de Wilkinson et Spacek. Le film soulève beaucoup de questions. Il a été pensé pour qu'il en soit ainsi. Il ne donne pas de reponse toute faite. J'ai vu la version anglaise. Malheureusement, je n'ai pas compris l'explication, en début de film, sur le bateau de peche de l'expression "In the bedroom", relative au homard. Quelqu'un pourrait me l'indiquer s.v.p. Elle avait surement une grande importance pour la comprehension du deroulement du drame. Se faire justice soi-même une solution? Le dénouement du film nous montre que non! Le deuil est un long processus. Il passe par diverse etapes dont les deux dernières sont l'acceptation et le pardon. Les personnages n'ont pas atteint ce niveau. D'où le dénouement du film. Ce film m'a fait penser à du Bergman.

Ça faisait très longtemps que je n'étais sorti d'une salle de cinéma avant la fin du film. Et bien là, c'est arrivé. Pourtant, j'étais parti avec l'idée que c'était un film magnifique à en entendre la critique. Mais, quelle ne fut ma déception lorsque j'ai vu la longueur de ce film et le fait que rien ne se passe. Tout est long et inutile, j'ai essayé de m'accrocher au jeu des acteurs mais sans résultat. Ce film est plate avec un P majuscule. Comme le disait quelqu'un d'autre, "Beautiful Mind" est 100 fois meilleur. Et pour ce qui est de Sissy Spacek, et bien je m'attendais à une superbe performance mais elle n'arrive pas à la cheville de Nicole Kildman dans "The Others". En un mot : pourri.

L'acteur principal (médecin) m'a semblé tout au long du film n'avoir rien d'attachant ou de convaincant. Mou et ennuyeux dans son timbre de voix d'une monotonie sans pareille, son caractère flegmatique reflétait bien la lenteur du plan de revanche attendue tout au long du film et qui n'est venu qu'en tout dernier lieu. Quant au fils, son apparence beaucoup trop jeune le rendait très peu crédible. À peine avait-il l'air de plus de 14 ou 15 ans. Mis à part quelques bonnes répliques échangées entre le groupe d'amis, l'attente de la revanche s'est trop fait attendre et lorsqu'enfin elle a pris forme, elle s'est déroulée sans surprise et sans palpitations c'est-à-dire reflétant la couleur du film : endormant.

Film très décevant et contrairement à plusieurs, ce n'est pas un film pour cinéphiles. Trop long, des scènes inutiles, l'acteur principal, celui qui incarne le docteur, jeu trop statique,.. je ne comprends pas pourquoi certaines scènes sont d'une telle longueur! A la sortie de ce film, les gens n'avaient pas de beaux éloges et en prêtant attention à ce qui se disait, j'ai vu que la plupart n'était pas heureux de s'être déplacés pour voir ce film. Je ne comprends pas certaines critiques qui le qualifie de Génial... franchement ont-ils un montant d'argent pour dire de telles bêtises. Le film " Un homme d'exception" est 100 fois meilleur.

Excellent film, très bonne performance des acteurs. Ne vous attendez pas à un film commun, très différent de la majorité. Pour cinéphiles seulement qui savent reconnaître sa valeur. Il arrive dans mon palmares personnel en troisième avec Mullholland Drive en premier, suivi de Moulin Rouge.

Je fais partie de ces gens qui en ont RAS-LE-BOL de cette comédie humaine que certains appellent JUSTICE. Alors, vous dire combien j'applaudissais intérieurement au dénouement du film! Au lieu d'investir des milliards pour chercher un fantôme sur la planête (B. Laden) , on doit plutôt chercher OÙ EST PASSÉ LA JUSTICE? En fait, on paye des sommes vertigineuses pour maintenir un système judiciaire qui est devenu IMPOTENT, qui ne protège que les COUPABLES, sans AUCUNES considérations pour les victimes, AVEUGLE et IMBÉCILE, sans AUCUN bon sens commun, dont les acteurs se cachent derrière leurs diplomes et leurs robes de magistrat, dans un jargon que le commun des mortels ne comprend pas et jouant sur les mots au point qu'une évidence devient un truc qu'un avocat de la défense va réduire à néant, à coups de vices de procédure, de droits de la personne, ou encore Dieu sait quoi. Ce qu'on comprend du film c'est que SI LA JUSTICE NE FAIT PAS SON TRAVAIL, LE CITOYEN VICTIME LUI LE FERA. C'est ce que je retiens de ce film dont les acteurs ont admirablement bien rendu l'histoire. Une fiction? Oui pour ce film et non dans la vie courante. Il n'y a pas de grands coups d'éclats dans ce film, qui est parfois un peu long. Tout se passe comme dans la vie. Le dénouement m'apparait plausible. Je crois que cela doit arriver parfois quand des victimes en ont assez. Je pourrais cracher jusqu'à demain mon fiel sur ce système judiciaire qui n'est plus aujourd'hui qu'une risée publique [...] Je manque de respect surement, mais le respect se gagne, ce n'est pas un droit acquis. Il faudrait que la Justice elle-même se respecte avant que j'en fasse autant. Dommage, mais de plus en plus, les gens vont RÈGLER LEURS AFFAIRES EUX-MÊMES! Et ce n'est pas eux qui auront parti le bal. VOILA!

Premier long métrage de Todd Field très réussi! Drame captivant nous montrant le problème du silence d'une famille qui vit le deuil de leur fils. Montage inspiré renforçant grandement le manque de communication. Pour terminer le tout en beauté, une brochette d'acteurs dignes de mérites. Nous ressortons de la salle de projection avec mille et une questions en tête.

Ce film est un drame... ne vous attendez pas à des effets spéciaux ou a de l'action... Tout ce passe dans le regard, dans les atmospheres... Les acteurs sont excellents... Sissy Spacek (wow) et l'ex jaloux... très bon acteur... Des Oscars en vu.

Je viens de voir in the Bedroom, et je suis très deçue. Ce film est d'une banalité, c'est est du déjà vu, d'une longueur ennuyante, il n y a aucun suspens, l'histoire est écrite d'avance, on ne ressent rien! Comme on dit au Quebec : c'est plate!

Si vous aimez le drame au quotidien vous aimerez ce film. La violence conjugale est présente un peu partout dans tous les milieux. Elle affecte la famille immédiate et son environnement. Ce film représente bien une réalité qui est hélas de plus en plus présente dans notre société. Ce n'est pas un film léger. Les émotions sont vécues à fleur de peau. Si vous aimez le drame avec un grand D.
