It's time for this movie to be updated for a new generation. It doesn't have to be a direct remake, but a spiritual one. You would need to get a bit of luck in finding a good young actor to do the quality of job Hoffman did. I'm thinking a Jake Gyllenhaal type. Catherine Zeta Jones can be Mrs. Robinson!

I think the ending was not optimistic at all, you think it would be at first but then benjamin loses all expression on his face. Benjamin and Elaine dont even look at each other, its like they didnt know what to do now. And in the last shot there is a pole between them as the bus drives away, they are eternally separated.

I first saw the graduate when I was in my late teens. I thought at the time that the character Ben was ungrateful & wasting his opportunities in life and I still feel that way. However the scene in the strip club where Elaine begins to cry & Ben experiences his epiphany is beautifuly done, I empathized with both characters & Fell a little in love with Katherine Ross. I also thought that the final scene in the bus was a wonderful, optomistic end..

Not being from the time frame that this movie comments on, I feel like some of the refrences were lost on me, but I still feel like this movie really was worth seeing. It was funny while stateing some very real points. I am just about to enter the college realm, and I would like to think that once I'm out, that all the answers in the world will be aparent, so the end of the movie with such a loud "sound of silence" really seemed to strike me. It is good that people can laugh, but more importantly, learn from Ben's story.

I saw this movie first when I was like 15 and it was cool then, but it became relevant as I got older. Still one of my favorite movies... every time I hear simon and garfunkel, I have to go watch it.

This seemed like a very slow movie, gets better towards the end and the last scene on the bus has had me thinking ever since! What does it mean! I have become a little obsessed with trying to find out what that scene means!

I saw this film when it first came out at a theatre in NYC and it remember it as the type of film which set the tone for an era... Have seen it many times since... Films like Breakfast at Tiffanys and Georgy Girl and even Up the Down Staircase...

I was twenty years old and for the first time in my life somebody was talking to ME. I was under the water listening a wonderful song about the non sens of the world. The next year, my life and the times were changing.

I just saw it and enjoyed it very much, shows a young man trying to get started dealing with a struggle with himself and his morale trying to cope of what is expected of him as being a man, it was nice to see him chase her, young love dealing with a struggle of betrayal, and forgiveness.

I thought Dustin Hoffman portrayed a very humourous protangonist in the movie. The only thing is I had no idea what the movie was suggesting. I mean, he jumps from woman to the next... I dunno I'm stupid so who knows? Can someone explain to me what that movie was trying to say?

Amazing acting, script, cinematography. A must see for all those coming of age. Be warned though, it is quite slow and isn't very entertaining after the first few times seeing it.

I am in my early twenties. I had heard a lot about this movie, but I didn't watch it until now. It's definitely the best movie I ever watched. Everything it says about life is so great! Highly recommended, especially for those who are my age.

Why didn't Ben stay with Mrs. Robinson but marry Elaine instead? Mrs. Robinson was obviously the cooler, more interesting woman. It's a funny movie, I just bet that Benjamin will also laugh at his own actions if he ever saw The Graduate 20 years later.

Am I the only one who saw this movie and identified with Ben? Am I the only one who was crazy over a beautiful girl and acted as such? It's not a romantic comedy, it's life and so well-acted, so well done, that it's stunning--even after all these years. It's a must see and a life's lesson. Secondarily, it's a well-done film with masterful acting..

Wow! That's how I felt after I saw this. Hoffman was tremendous in this film. It was a bit surreal, and I liked that. I was in my early twenties when I saw it and would recommend it to people that age.

Wow man, that's one of the worst movies I have ever seen. The only good things about this movie are: 1) the good tunes from Simon and Garfunkel 2) all the parodies that were made about it.

I was graduating from College about the same time as "The Graduate", and the symbolism used in the movie was very true for the times. Throw in some classic acting, a great story line, and you have a classic!

I absolutely agree! The Graduate is a classic in the American cinema. This is really worth seeing and it is from the director of "The Bird Cage". Go see it!

Has anyone not heard the words "Mrs. Robinson... are you trying to seduce me? " This film is worth seeing for its cultural reference points alone, but there is a reason why everyone from the Simpsons to your Uncle Joe makes references to this film: it's good. It's hard to believe that the same director from "What Planet Are You From" also accomplished this wonderful film.
